It's a Kind of Magic

It has been announced by Vodafone UK, that the HTC Magic will be updated to FroYo. This is a surprise (to say the least), since the handset is 20 months old. In the US, the phone is known as the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G. It has been suggested that this update is due to the fact that T-Mobile is upgrading this handset to FroYo also.

Android 2.2.1 will give customers a number of improvements including: latest Gmail and Android Market clients; ability to save applications directly onto an SD card; support for USB tethering so the phone can be used as a modem; improved support for Active Sync Exchange (email, contacts and calendar sync); enhancements to Bluetooth; and enhancements to the camera. The update also includes the latest Google security patches.

Please note that this update is in two parts.

It must be magic for this FroYo update to be coming to much older hardware.
