It’s official — Right from the horse’s mouth, so to speak.Samsung Tomorrow released the information early this morning. The Samsung Galaxy S II is getting the Ice Cream Sandwich starting today in parts of Europe (Poland, Hungary, Sweden) and Korea. The UK date is March 19th.
Samsung are releasing the long awaited update OTA (Over The Air) . Samsung also states that the update will roll out in other markets gradually, and to expect ICS for the Galaxy Note, Galaxy S II LTE, and Tablets very “soon”.
Within the UK where their is no carrier branded mobiles you will need to check everyday, twice-a-day if you can to check for the release.
But our cousins in the US where carrier branded is the norm, they will be at the mercy of the carriers to release to update for the Galaxy S II and Tablet, the availability and scheduling of the software update and specific models upgradable to Android 4.0 will vary by market and wireless carriers’ requirements. In other words, we’re at the mercy of folks at Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile here in the U.S. Hopefully we’ll soon hear something specific. When we know, you’ll know.
