Vodafone, Everything Everywhere and Three, coming soon!
In the same day that HTC has unravelled its plans to bring Ice Cream Sandwich to a huge range of its old phones, we’ve managed to wangle a launch date for the Android 4.0 update to the Galaxy S2 from O2. Earlier this week we brought you news that Samsung has officially dated the Ice Cream Sandwich update for Monday 19th of March. Of course, while this is all well and good for anyone who bought an unlocked Galaxy S2 from the SIM-free shelves, history has taught us that these things take longer to worm their way through the network operators’ testing labs.
Vodafone, for instance, has said that it’s working on getting the update out “as quickly as possible,” while over at Three no date has been set. Everything Everywhere group are saying much the same.
O2’s slightly more specific. Not a lot more, but more nonetheless.
Mid April is all they’re saying for their customers.. That’s the word straight from an O2 spokesperson, “The Android Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Samsung Galaxy S2 is being tested and will launch half way through next month for O2 customers”.
For those of you who have not seen ICS running on SG2 here is a taster video
